Lion Rock sunset

Above: Lion Rock, once an iconic hill separating the civilized in Kowloon and the country bumpkins in the New Territories, no longer draws as strong a line.
The Lion Rock mountain, actually just a hill of about 1600 ft. (~500 M) located north of Kowloon, is the physical barrier between Sha Tin and Kowloon Tong - the northern edge of Kowloon. It had for decades been overlooking the hardworking new immigrants that flooded into Hong Kong and settled on its foothill in squatters and resettlement estates.

Now the lion, though still standing, seems to have faded into the memories of yesteryears as the younger generation buys the new high rise condos with the shopping mall, built on the same land once occupied by the hillside shacks and government housing.
