1. Take a helicopter ride

You want a breathtaking view of Hong Kong? Take a helicopter ride around the city! It won't be cheap though.

Best time - dusk; not during a thunderstorm or typhoon


2. Ride the Peak Tram

Take the Peak Tram up the hill to Victoria Peak

Best time - dusk on a clear day



3. Ride the cable car

You can either ride it in Ocean Park or at Ngong Ping 360. To ride the latter, you can board it in Tung Chung near the MTR station. And if you pay a little more, you can ride one with a glass bottom! link to Ngong Ping 360

Best time - when it's not windy

BEWARE: every once in a while, their operation is suspended, so check before you head out.


4. Ride the century-old tram

The tram service on Hong Kong Island has been around for literally a century. It's a great way to see a little of the city especially from the upper deck.


Best time - day time or night time, or both.

Location - try it from the Causeway Bay terminus in front of HK Regal Hotel to the Western Market terminus.


5. Take a harbor cruise

Take a night time harbor cruise to enjoy the sights on both sides of Victoria Harbor. more

Best time - during the Symphony of Lights laser show.

If you want an inexpensive version of that, ride the Star Ferry instead. Of course then each ride is only 5 or 10 minutes. (Riding a Chinese sailboat is also an excellent alternative.)
