Fast-Changing Hong Kong

Above: New observation deck at Tsim Sha Tsui promenade (2006.10).

When it comes to change, Hong Kong almost changes as fast as the weather.

There is always construction going on. New office buildings, new shopping centers, new train or subway stations or lines, and don't even talk about restaurants and real estate or travel agent offices. All this makes it very hard to keep up when it comes to a guide to Hong Kong. In some travel guides you will see the Tsim Sha Tsui clock tower with some kind of structure around it like in the photo to the left. Well, it is gone. The clock tower is still there, but not the circular structure thing any more.

The old observation deck has also been re-done (see photo above and below). It now has a device for wheelchair access. (2007.4.7)

Above: Under construction in Tsim Sha Tsui, this huge construction site will probably become a major shopping center in that area.
