Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center

Above: The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wanchai viewed from a Star Ferry.
Located in Wanchai on the waterfront, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center is one of the most prominent landmarks in Victoria Harbor, and it was where the hand-over of Hong Kong back to China took place in 1997. It has become the location for many major ceremonies, and the Golden Bauhinia Square in front of it is now a main tourist spot.

In addition to the government official ceremonies, major exhibitions and expos are held here regularly.

There are a few easy ways of getting there. Since the Star Ferry Wanchai Pier is just nearby, you can just take the Star Ferry to Wanchai from Tsimshatsui in Kowloon.

It is linked to the Wanchai MTR station via a series of footbridges - you will pass through a couple of buildings including the Central Plaza (an interesting building in itself). (Above right: the Golden Bauhinia Square in front of the HK Convention and Exhibition Center)

Raising of the PRC national flag and Hong Kong SAR flag can be observed here at the Golden Bauhinia Square on some mornings.
